A Day in Brooklyn…
Sunday, May 4, 2008 was the girls’ first trip since their arrival to NYC. We headed out to Brooklyn to the Brooklyn Museum where we went to see Takashi Murakami exhibit, followed by a pleasant stroll through the Brooklyn Botanical Garden where they were holding a Cherry Blossom event.
This was the first time on the train for all three Blythes. We took the “4″ train from Union Square into Brooklyn where we transferred to the “2″ train. We got off at Eastern Parkway, right outside of the Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanical Garden; very convenient.
We could see two of Murakami’s sculptures from the outside. Rhapsody Bleu just amused by the sculptures whimsical yet odd character of the piece. Meilla adored the cute little creatures that seemed to dance around the main character, perhaps in celebration? And Veronique couldn’t wait to hit the gift shop and treat herself with a gift.
The Takashi Murakami exhibit was great fun and the girls enjoyed the various aspects of the show. Meilla loved the cute characters especially those of Kaikai and Kiki in the cartoon that was played in the exhibit. Veronique Sophia wanted to go shopping in the mini Louis Vuitton boutique that was set up in the middle of the exhibit but she did not find anything that was appropriate for her. Rhapsody Bleu loved some of the bizarre and surreal imagery of skulls and wild mushrooms.
After a bit of lunch at the museum cafe, we headed over to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens where Meilla, Veronique, and Rhapsody were surrounded with the sweet floral scents of spring flowers.
Meilla loved the white flowers, the polka-dots (i think that is what they are called…). She looks so darn cute sitting in the grass next to the flowers! All she needs now is a cute little white rabbit in her lap.
Rhapsody loved the cherry blossoms and just couldn’t get enough of them. I had to take her down from one of the trees. She wanted to build a treehouse and live there forever.
Here she is looking oh so determined as if she’s is about to take the blossoms into her warm embrace, and give it a big loving kiss.

Veronique frolicked with the pansies, stopped to have her picture taken with some violet pansies. She looks so confident standing among the violet pansies, as of to say, “Come play with me, you know you want to.”
The violet really brings out her bouncy blonde curls.
